When I first saw these Doc Marten sandals at such a terrific price, I was very happy.I loved the look and the height of the heel and I knew they would be sturdy.It was pretty much a no-brainer for me that I would fall in love with these shoes.However when I got them it was a bit of a different story.First of all, we were in a hurry and I had just opened the box thinking I would put them on and show them off.It took me forever to get the little buckle closed.The openings were a bit small and set back so you have to jerk the leather strap around to buckle them even on the first hole.It''s also in kinda an awkward place so if you are not a gymnast or a circus performer, you are probably not limber enough to keep fooling with it.Once I got them on, the right foot seemed tighter than the left, but I noticed that my feet were not swollen or anything.They ran sort of small for the size and especially having wide feet, this was a problem.They felt really odd and not what I would call comfortable.You just know a pair of shoes you are going to keep forever by the first test run these just seemed kind of awkward as if the sturdy base did not mesh with the shoe for some reason.I know they have great grip capability on the bottom, but don''t get on any smooth tile.I started wobbling and sliding a little.Someone told me they looked heavy.They don''t actually feel heavy.I was surprised there wasn''t a bit more cushioning.For me these became borderline do I keep them or not.I decided not to.Maybe they would be the dream shoe for someone with narrower or smaller feet than mine.Too bad because they are so beautiful.

Wedges weighed too much, and skinny heels just aren''t my thing, so I came to these, and couldn''t be happier. The construction is hardy, and the sandal stays in place. With many shoes, my thin feet simply look weird, but these fit beautifully and are actually quite comfortable. I love the look of these sandals however I am not sure if I will keep them.I will wear them in the house for a bit and see.The reason is because unlike other Dr. Martens, these do not have any padding.I thought they''d be as comfortable as the others but it feels like wooden clogs.There is a little padding but Ican''t tell when I stand on them,I also agree with the first reviewer that doing the straps/buckle is a pain.I had to bend down low in my seat to adjust it.I like the look but I would hate to have to deal with the buckle every time I wear them and take them off.Should have elastic attached to it like some other sandals do.I have med width feet, but my toes doe not go all the way to the front of the shoe.Only the tip of my big toe shows ad I think it will look better if more of my toes would show.I wear a US 7 and got the 5 and my heel does not stick out in the back.It''s exactly flush with the heel.So, if you have narrow feet and your toes go all the way to the front, you may want to order 1/2 size smaller.
