I was told that I needed orthotics -the price was well over $500. Then I found these amazing Merrell Encore Breeze shoes with an orthotic design made just for women built right in. They have taken care of all my foot problems and, they have saved me money! I own two pair (black and beige) and plan on buying more. Everyone comments on how cute they are. Thank you Merrell Shoes for making this wonderful shoe. I can''t wait for the Fall/Winter styles to come out! Best of all, I walk without pain in my knees and feet now.

I have the Merrell Mocs and LOVE them.Best shoe I have ever owned and they have travelled to Australia, US, and Europe in all kinds of weather conditions and never let me down.
I wanted a shoe to wear during Summer that was light and easy to get on and off.Hopefully, something that wouldn''t need socks. But these aren''t as ''breezy'' as they are advertised my feet do get very hot in these so much so that one long day at the Boston Fine Arts museum necessitated me going outside and walking barefoot in the grass. My feet became unbearably hot and the shoes just don''t ''breathe''.
These really are quality shoes, very comfortable, and great for your feet.I can''t recommend Merrel enough for that.I only wish that these didn''t get so uncomfortable hot and allowed for better flow of air.The mesh on the top is misleading they aren''t breezy at all.

Like many other reviewers, I love the Merrell Encore shoes so much that I have multiple pairs. (Although the names have changed over the years, the decorative stitching is the only physical difference I''ve noticed.)
I''ve purchased my three pairs over the course of the last 5 years. I wear them for everything from lounging around the house, to miles long walks and hikes with the dog, to runs to catch the bus. I have worn them while living in both New Jersey (cold, snowy winters, and hot and humid summers) and Edinburgh, Scotland (more mild temperatures but lots of rain and pervasive dampness). All three pairs are still in fantastic shape. The soles are still as sturdy as ever; they are not worn down, torn, or otherwise damaged in any way. The suede uppers are of course not shiny and new, but there are no notable stains, marks, or discolorations. (And these shoes have been splashed with everything from rain to dirty street water.)
Not only are the shoes sturdy, they''re incredibly comfortable. I''m rough on these shoes. I''ve worn them walking, running, and hiking, and they''ve held up. The fleece is soft and quite warm for cold days. They''re also quite supportive; I''ve worn them while standing for hours with no problem.
The interior fleece does wear down. The insoles are the first to wear down, but you can get replacements on Merrell''s website. Note though, that this is after wearing the shoes almost year round. The fleece around the top and sides of the shoe has compressed a little bit, but not much. In my oldest pair (5 years old), the fleece has totally worn away on the side of the shoe at the very back. Sadly, (because the shoes are fine in all other ways), I''m going to have to retire them.
As other reviewers have stated, the shoes are comfortable with or without socks. When buying/sizing the shoe, make sure to account for the increase in space when the fleece compresses; i.e. buy them slightly snug. I have slightly wide feet and have no problem with fit. A friend with narrow feet also loves them and compliments the fit. I think the presence of the fleece allows the fit to adjust as necessary.
I highly recommend these shoes. They''ll be your new favorites.

Another perfect shoe from Merrell.This year''s Encore Ice, I think, replaces the Encore Chill Stitch.I received the Encore Ice in Smooth Black Leather today and wearing them as I leave this feedback.These will replace the Smooth Black Leather Encore Chill Stitch this winter because the fuzzy fur is wearing off around the heel of the old ones.The shoe itself is in VERY good condition you can barely tell it''s been worn for two winters and it''s pretty much water proof as is the new Encore Ice.I guess it''s like technology; you have to replace it every two years just to keep up.As far as I''m concerned the Encore Ice is the same shoe with only slight changes on the top of the shoe and 3 X decorative stitches on each side of the shoe.Still the most comfortable shoe in the world.I''ve recommended this shoe to every woman I know.The most receptive are the ladies in the medical field and the dentist office.The price was only $83 from Amazon.
