My first impression was that these sandals looked great and were comfortable right out of the box, which was not the case with my Rainbow sandals (which took months of heavy use to wear in properly). For comparison, I also had a pair of 2 year old Reef Forte sandals, which in my opinion are the pinnacle of comfortable sandals.
After walking any extended distance in these sandals, however, a few things were notable. The leather was a little bit too smooth, and allowed for too much foot slide which caused chafing on the bottoms of my large toes.I also found that after a few weeks of casual use, the sandals developed a significant depression in the heel a complete collapse of the foam cushioning beneath the leather covering.Of note, my two-year-old Reef Forte sandals, which are made entirely of foam, do not have this problem. So while these sandals are certainly still wearable, I would not recommend them for walking any great distance.
Overall, it''s a good-looking sandal for a decent price.Reef does make higher-quality leather sandals which appear to start in the $70 range, and those may end up lasting you longer.I also would recommend looking at Rainbow sandals, which will last you for years, but can take a long time to get worn in.

Comfortable slipper, especially the footbed, soft but provides as much support as you can maximally expect from flip flops. A size larger (12) than my typical size (11) would have been a better fit. I haven''t worn them much yet (a couple of days), but expect to enjoy them for a long time. This is my 3rd pair of Reef''s flip flops, and they last years.Read Best Reviews of Reef Men''s Leather Skyver Thong Sandal Here
I love wearing flip flops so I''ve gone through my fair share of them and I''ve tried both leather and rubber models from a number of different brands. So far my favorites have been Reefs and Rainbows.I''ve noticed that the Rainbows tend to need more breaking in than the Reefs.I''ve only had these for a day so far, but here are my key observations.
Out-of-the-box, this pair of sandals is probably the most comfortable pair of flip flips I''ve owned.
The leather surface on the top of the sandal is quite thin (perhaps less than 1/16 of an inch).I''ve never had a problem where I''ve worn through the top layer on a leather sandal so this may not be a big deal.In fact, it may be part of the reason why it is so comfortable without any break-in.
The strap between the toes is a soft nylon strap that is sewn into the top strap. The top strap is made of nylon underneath a thin layer of leather. The leather provides the looks, but the part that touches the top of the feet are made of nylon not the super soft stuff that goes between the toes but comfortable nonetheless.(The nylon strap that comes on the Rainbows is much more rigid and requires more break-in).
The rubber foam layer between the leather and the rubber sole provides good cushion and comfort.
The rubber sole seems to be made of a very durable rubber, but the portion beneath the front part of the foot is quite thin only about 1/8".There is still about 3/8" of the rubber foam between the leather top and bottom hard rubber. The good news is that this rubber does seem much more durable than what I''ve seen on most other sandals so I''m thinking this will not be an issue.

These are my first pair of leather flip flops, and as of the first week have proven to be VERY comfortable. My only reservation is that the sole feels very thin compared to some other reefs I''ve owned.Time will tell whether or not that''s even an issue or just a style. On a side note; they look great with a cream linen pant. :)
