I purchased the lighter brown and they are a bit distressed, but I like that. Since I have a pair of tall Merrell boots that were a bit tight in size 10, I purchased these in 10.5 and I am glad I did because like I said, I can wear a thicker sock and still have my jeans fit inside. I will be purchasing a second pair in black.I did not purchase these boots on Amazon, but as I feel so strongly about how wonderful they are, I decided to share. First off, I wear Chacos all summer long. My feet get so used to the amazing support that come fall and winter time, I''m tempted to wear my large hiking boots (not terribly feminine) all cold-season long. I tried buying some "nice" Steve Madden boots and found them to be terrible quality leather (stains with water!) and terribly uncomfortable. I then purchased these at a Marshalls and I have not taken them off since I bought them in October.
I wear a size 9, so a lot of boots look really big and clunky, but these are perfect! I did notice that the zipper pulls a bit on leggings, so I suggest wearing a pair of socks high up enough to meet the top of the zipper.
I''m tempted to buy another pair (I have ''mahogany") because I fear I''ll wear these out!
They run true to size and go with EVERYTHING! The traction of the sole is perfect for slippery days and the durability of the leather is fine in the rain.

These boots fit perfectly from day one. No breaking in necessary, and they''re the right height for me. The color goes with everything from brown to grey to black and navy blue.I got these are Marshall''s for only $30, but would have paid more. Very comfy, and stylish. Get compliments all the time. They have a "distressed" look, which is what I was looking for. Great support. A TAD bit on the narrow side, but I got them in my regular shoe size and am happy with the fit. This is a comfortable and warm boot and is the high quality product that I have come to expect from Merrell. They have a similar feel and look of an old comfy pair of cowboy boots.
