I waited a long time to get a pair of these, for they are expensive. The design of the foot bed looked like it would be very comfortable and it did not disappoint me.The leather is very soft, especially the light colored leather lining the straps and forming the central portion of the foot bed.The cushion effect is quite nice, but would be extraordinary if thicker.Unfortunately, beautifeel shoes run small and very narrow. This is the reason I had to give this sandal only 4 stars. This size 42, listed as a woman''s size 12, has a foot bed 10 3/4 inches long with a total length of 10 7/8 inches. It runs most narrowly across the ball of the foot. The width in the heel area is just adequate. The padded part of the foot bed is just under 3 1/2 inches across the ball, with a total shoe width of just under 3 3/4 inches across the ball. This is for a size 12 sandal!I wear a woman''s size 10 to 11 sandal in most brands. Most of the time a size 11 is perfect. These size 12 beautifeels fit like a narrow size 10.A really nice reef size 10 sandal, a style generous in size, is 3 3/4 inches across the padded part of the foot bed with a total width of 4 1/8 inches in comparison. It''s overall length is longer than this size 12 beautifeel.I just recently got a pair of cole haan air sandals in size 11, which are typical of a woman''s size 11.The padded part of the foot bed extends about 4 inches across the ball of the foot. The beautifeel sandals would be wonderful with this extra 1/2 inch of width of the padded part of the foot bed across the ball of the foot. Most sandals curve slightly outward from the heel area to the outside across the ball. Both the reef and cole haan sandals do and are so shaped. Most peoples feet are so shaped. The beautifeel sandals run straight along the outside from the heel to the ball area. They are excessively narrow across the ball area as a result.Fortunately, my feet can tolerate this, but hang over the outer edge. But these sandals would be much more comfortable for me if they were wider in this area.Comfort is paramount to me.I try many different sandals in my look for comfort.I mentioned earlier that I wanted these sandals due to the nicely tufted and padded foot bed.The shape of the foot bed has the potential to be one of the most comfortable I have ever worn in a sandal. This design appears to not be appropriate to fit a wide varietyof foot widths. It is sensitive to a good fit. This design needs to be made in multiple widths so that most wearers can take advantage of the unique qualities of comfort inherent in this design. For those with small, narrow feet, this sandal must be much more comfortable than I have been able to experience.I believe my foot is too wide to receive the strengths inherent in it''s design. If the sandal were wider and longer, I think my experience of comfort would have been greatly heightened. The design of this beautifeel sandal has the potential to excel in comfort, but it must fit accurately in order for comfort to be optimum. The central part of the foot bed is very softly padded. The outer padded ridge around the the central area gives this sandal a very nice feel.I think thicker padding and a softer padding under the surrounding ridge would even make this more so.The stitch pattern on the central foot bed, between the ball and arch area is an interesting touch that allows the ball of the foot to settle more flatly in the ball area thus increasing the comfort of these sandals.Quite an interesting design.Beautifeel, please continue making sandals with such a nice foot bed design.I really like this design. It''s the best beautifeel has come up with yet.But please offer this design with more than one width, for with this design the foot should be mostly cradled within the surrounding ridge for optimal comfort. My feet hang completely over the ridge at the ball.I think the sandal would have been much more a pleasure to wear if this were not the case. The construction and leather is very nice. They take hard wear and will last a long time. The sole has good grip. They are still beautiful and flattering to my feet, for the viewer does not perceive the less than optimum comfort.
