LOEFFLER RANDALL Women''s Roanne Ankle-Strap Sandal

I recently acquired the Loeffler Randall Roanne Mignon sandal in Black, so I cannot comment on the Pale Gold color. But I felt that shoppers should be informed of the true height of this heel. Most online retailers are stating it as 3.25 inches, as did the Loeffler Randall web site until recently. Now the Loeffler Randall site says 80mm, which would be a hair over 3 inches. They call it a "mid-heel". It''s not. The heel is 4 inches (3.75 if you don''t count the sole), or 100mm. It''s a high heel. This came as a disappointment to me, but perhaps some women will prefer the higher heel.

I don''t want to reduce my rating of the Roanne just because the company is propagating an incorrect description all over the web. It is a gorgeous shoe. The craftsmanship could hardly be better. Even the outsole is buttery soft. I might have preferred a wider heel, but this heel balances beautifully with the more substantial upper. The ankle strap is wide enough to be quite comfortable and secure, though it does have elastic near the buckle, which will wear out before the rest of the shoe. The sandal runs narrow. It will fit a medium width foot, but you may have some trouble getting it on the first few times.

The Roanne is available in a number of other colors if you shop around. I have seen black, pale gold, nude, orange suede, bottle green/black snake embossed leather, and a nude/black snake embossed leather. There may be more. Search also under "Roanna", as a lot of retailers are selling it under that name for some reason. If you don''t like the heel, you might try Loeffler Randall''s Filippa flat sandal, also available in a variety of colors. It has exactly the same upper as the Roanne but without any heel. The Roanne is beautifully styled and crafted, but it would be nice if its designers were more adept with a ruler.
