These shoes are a PERFECT fit (size 10) and so comfortable. Wearing these shoes is like walking on a cloud .... they are soooo very comfy and offer great support for your feet. So many shoes today do NOT have the comfortable foot bed .... these are AMAZING!!!
So glad I took the chance (on the fit/comfort) and bought them :)

top strap tore after 3 wears. straps dig in and hurt..........i would NOT recommend this product to anyone. ever. don''t do it.Read Best Reviews of Earth Women''s Wellspring Sandal Here
I got these sandals in anticipation of a cruise.I normally wear a 7.5, wide, shoe (my foot is wide in the bridge of knuckles where my foot meets my toes).I have a high instep but normal arch.I often wear an 8 comfortably, but sometimes the arch is in a weird place.I heeded previous reviewers'' cautionary remarks about the narrowness of this shoe.I waffled whether to order even a size up from the 8, but in the end, I ordered size 8.(Ref. arch placement.)
They arrived quickly, well wrapped, in the original box with cardboard shoe-form inserts, and in perfect condition.
These shoes are going to last. The stitching is even and tight, and the edges are tightly bound to the bottom. The leather is strong yet soft, with no rough edges, and the color is even throughout. The edges of the foot bed (eyeballing only, about 1/2") are highly cushioned, as is the arch.(Read further for evidence of how well-made they are.)
The color is as pictured a major consideration for my purchase the shoes "go" with any number of outfits. The styling is as pictured another major factorgood for either casual or dressier outfits.
The suede leather straps are soft and the top strap has a tiny bit of elastic at the instep (totally invisible when you''re wearing the shoes). The other straps do not have elastic attached. The middle strap''s span across the shoe is the shortest. The middle and lower straps are sewn together from about 2/3 from inside (above your 3rd-4th toes), all the way to the outside edge. While the inner to middle of the lower 2 straps can be slightly adjusted, there is NO leeway on the outside. Here is where the fit got tight for me.
On first try-on, with the combination of my wide knuckles and high instep coupled with the shorter middle strap SEWN to the lower one, there was NO sliding those lower straps to get the rest of my foot fully into the shoe!Because of the soft suede and "wrinkles", and the major cushioning, they rolled up, instead of slipping over the knuckles.
[Okay, remember way up there, when I said I ordered these to take on a cruise?I was leaving in a couple of days (less time than I could re-order), and I decided that the next size up would probably be too long.Just keep that in mind while you laugh at me with me -for what I did next.]
I couldn''t just leave them there; the highly cushioned arch and the top strap across my high instep made that option too uncomfortable. No amount of "squinching up" my foot helped, either.Ultimately, I took the back end of a spoon handle and worked that middle/lower strap combo over my knuckles and wiggled my feet into the shoes.Yes, they were still a little tight right there, but the rest felt good!I wore them for a couple of hours while I packed (read, on my feet). The next morning, I tried again. There was more give... but I had to get the ol'' spoon handle back out. After wearing a few more hours, guess what I could take them off AND put them on again!Woo hoo!
I opted not to risk wearing these shoes on land excursions while on the cruise, but did wear them several times without having to sneak a spoon out of the dining room.Since then, I have worn them at hours-long cocktail parties. At NO time were they ever uncomfortable.I still adjust the straps for my high instep when I put them on, but they stay in place; no re-arranging necessary.
That evidence of good craftsmanship I mentioned earlier?Lesser shoes might have broken the straps, loosened the straps from the shoe, or broken the stitching. Not these. You''d never know that in the past I''d had to work myself into these shoes like a tight pair of jeans.(Thank goodness I don''t have to wash them like jeans I wouldn''t go through breaking them in again!)
Truth be told, I am NOT one to wear ill-fitting clothing or shoes; doing so makes me cranky and I get rid of the offending article.I might not have messed with trying to make these shoes fit if it weren''t for the tight timeline and their complete match for what I wanted.I''m pretty sure I would have sent them back ... but I''m glad I didn''t.They have become a 5-star product, but I certainly deduct one star for the work I put in to getting them there.
Bottom line:DO order up... unless you have a very narrow foot possibly in combination with low instep. Also, if you have a very low arch or do not like feeling the arch in your shoe, these may be uncomfortable.I have quite a few Earth brand shoes.I have high arches and these are the only brand I can consistently buy and know they will fit perfectly. These shoes look great.I do not wear heels often and these feel very supportive on my feet.
