I found a pair of these in a thrift store several years ago and bought them on a whim. After wearing them for a few months, I realized they were the best sandals I''ve ever had, and I wished to get another pair. I found the barely-visible brand name, did some Internet searching, and bought my second pair. They''re lightweight, supportive, easy to slip on and off, stylish, durable...I wore one or the other pair every day this summer, and my feet thanked me.

This sandal is apparently the "ugly comfort shoe of the year" in the same way that Earth shoes and Birkenstocks found their way into our hearts years ago.According to a recent article in Slate online magazine, this shoe has long been the shoe of choice for German grandmothers who want comfort and don''t care about style.But some Hollywood stars "discovered" them, and now their ugliness has become chic, and these have become all the rage among the glitterati.The Slate article was illustrated by a slide show depicting some pretty heavyweight celebrities sporting this shoe.This particular style, the mule slide, comes in a variety of colors.It has a leather upper and an extremely lightweight cork sole.

I actually don''t think they are all that ugly.I''m a middle-aged working woman, and I found these sandals in this off-beat pink and snake print style rather attractive.That being said, they are not nearly as comfortable as my cruddy old pair of Birkenstocks, or my more stylish Sperry Topsiders.The leather is stiff, and the inside of the leather upper is a tad rough.Although the shoe did not rub a blister on my foot, it did leave a red sore line on my foot by the end of the working day.I was wearing them without socks or knee-highs with a pair of slacks.

If I had been blown away by the comfort factor, I would be ordering these in several more colors.And perhaps the leather becomes more soft with wearing.But my initial reaction isthat these are not any better than many of the summer slides you can find in a nice department store.

Based on the other reviews, I decided to order a size up. Since the shoes are slides, I figured that I could probably still wear them if they were too big. I''m a size 9. I ordereda size 40. The shoes fit me perfectly. However, be warned that they were almost too small. My toes and heal both reach the end of the footbeds, and I have no room to spare. So, if you are a size 9, please order at least a 40.

The leather is good quality, it is soft and the shoes do not rub. The shoebeds are comfortable, but I would not say that they are the most comfortable shoes ever. They are what I expected good, solid, walking sandals. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Thanks to all the other reviewers who warned me that size might be an issue!

My wife bought this, so this is her review:(Amazon.com seems to treat us as one person, electronically.)The patent is so red and shiny it looks rather plastic.The leather is very stiff.They are very cute wedge-style sandals, though, not too high, and felt "soft" walking.I would have considered keeping them and wearing them first with thin cotton socks in the hope of making the leather soften and conform better to the top of my foot, as the lower edge of the band cut into my foot immediately. There was another problem with the foot bed, however.Maybe it''s my feet, or this particular pair of shoes, but while the ergonomic foot bed fit like it was made for me on the right foot, on the left it hit the wrong spots.I didn''t think it was worth the trouble to see if another pair in the same size fit both feet, since I bought on-line.

I should add that I occasionally buy size 8 1/2 (mostly for toe room in closed shoes) instead of an 8, and these were size 8.Unfortunately, 8 1/2 wasn''t available and the shoe is expensive.If I''d been happier with the leather, otherwise, I might have considered buying a second pair in the half size and trying to get a perfect fit for both feet.(If it hadn''t worked, I would have returned both pairs, and if it had, I would have then donated the mismatched pair -with an explanatory note -to charity.)

One more comment that might prove helpful is that I have an average heel width, but across the toes need a little more room, so often buy "C" width if the shoe has some give and that option is available, possibly "D" if there''s no give at all, and buy "W" width otherwise. (That''s also why I tend to buy slingbacks and open backed shoes and sandals).The buckle and strap on this shoe is adjustable, and on the last hole of the strap it fit very nicely in terms of width.

This is the 5th pair of these shoes I have ordered. Either they are not genuine Worishofers or something is terribly wrong with the crafting. The leather is thinner and there are

"screws" inside on the little toe area that protrude, preventing wearing them. The other four pair are well made and comfy. I am sadly disappointed.
