Birkenstock Women''s Mayari Sandal

Birkenstock Women''s Mayari Thong Sandal,Stone,39 M EUThis is my first pair of Birkenstocks.I have worm comfortable, supportive shoes for years (Dansko, Sanita) but developed plantar fasciitis after walking around in flimsy flip flops this summer.I have tried supportive flip-flops to wear (Okabashis, Moszkitos), but still had foot pain at the end of the day.I was a hold out to Birks since I thought they were way too granola for me.After a particularly painful day, I went to buy a pair of Birks at the Walking Company. The salesman was very helpful and we tried several pairs.I knew I wanted something less "crunchy" than the Arizona or Florida styles so we started with the Gizeh style.I have a high arch, low volume foot and we could not get a good fit with the single buckle attached to the main strap. The Mayari was my next choice.I normally wear a size 39 in Sanita and need a 39 N in Dansko, but we sized down to 38 in the Birks.Since I have a relatively narrow foot we first tried the 38 N, but my 4th and 5th toes touched the toe bar at the end.The 38 M (which is really a wide in US sizes) gave my toes just the right amount of room. The straps are on the second to last notches, but I do not feel that the shoe is too wide.

I love the incredible firm arch support and the deep heel cup with wide toe box.My feet were so happy the first time I wore these.I was told to expect to have a few days of break in and to flex the toes firmlyas soon as I took them out of the box. These are the only shoes I have worn since they arrived a week ago.No blisters, just a little sensitivity at the toe grab bar since my feet aren''t used to that in my shoes. My PF pain has all but disappeared since I put these on.Amazing! The Crushed Berry Patent is more versatile than I even hoped for.It varies from an indigo blue to a deep purple depending on my outfit and the light.I traditionally wear only black or brown shoes, but these are not too crazy for my relatively conservative tastes.Fashionable, comfortable Birks.Love ''em!

To start off, I am a 17 year old girl--and my mother has worn Birkenstocks for years. She has plenty of pairs, and I used to look at them as weird or basically "not-cool".

However, last summer, I bought the Mayari sandal in stone for myself on a whim because we were passing by a Birk store and they were on sale.I now wear them often and am looking into another pair of Birkenstocks! I love the versatility of the sandals, I can wear them to the beach, shopping, walking the dogs, hiking, camping.. you name it!

You may be warned that my family and I could be labeled, as another reviewer said, "crunchy" or "granola", and my mother often wears her Birks with SmartWool socks (I''m not quite at that level yet!) but these shoes are great no matter what your style is.

EDIT:February 2013 and these sandals are still going strong! They are definitely worn (I work at a resident camp, they go hiking with me), but fit like a perfect glove and I wouldn''t even call myself a sandal person. (I have, however, bought more Birks since c;)what are you waiting for? buy these!

Great price, arrived quickly, and perfect fit.

I''ve found that even though I wear a women''s size 9 shoe, the EU size 40 fits best.

Shiny purple straps with Birkenstock footbed.

I am 36, female and pregnant. I have narrow feet with a high instep and arch. I bought a 37 narrow. These are great for my posture, balance and changing feet.

I was very disappointed that the upper (I bought them in Onyx, dark grey) was NOT a leather UPPER as the listing described, but in fact Birki Buc. BirkiBuc is a felt backed fake leather. The good thing is no break in period for BirkiBuc, just not what the listing described. I''m keeping them, my feet said so. Definitely one of the cuter Birk designs out there too.

Beautiful sandal, colour is true. I''ve been wearing Birks since the 90''s and had to replace my first [and fave] pair last year when my sisters pup chewed the cork. I gave this 3 stars for fit, runs small, maybe it was the toe ring, all I know is the 38 was to small in the heel compared to the Cancun [I own 2 pairs] and Tahiti styles. Going to buy another Cancun and try a pair of Mephisto sandals.
