As others have stated the only issue I ran into was getting sand trapped in the front portion of the sandal. This was not a problem on some beaches with fine sand, however another beach mostly comprised of small pebbles and rock was very annoying as it got trapped in the toe guard. Wading in water doesn''t help and really only taking them off and rinsing them worked.
But other then that, they were great. Very comfortable, look good and if you have funny looking toes, these will cover them up.The only other thing I recommend is sun block otherwise you''ll have a web pattern on your foot from where the sun gets through. My wife and I have been using these shoes for almost one year. The best way to describe the feeling putting them on for the first time is like putting on your favorite sandals that have molded to your feet over time. They are just plainly comfortable. For colder/wetter climates we paired these shoes with water-resistance/proof neoprene socks and thin wool hiking socks you can get at REI.The closed-toe is very useful in protecting your toes from getting stubbed, stability, etc.I even hiked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing down in New Zealand in these.
A comment to a prior reviewer... sand/small rocks do indeed get into the toe area but there is a trick to effectively manage thisraise your foot up, pointing your toes up in the air and methodically raise/lower your toes (only) so that the shoe flops back and forth against your foot.It takes a little getting used to but most rocks, etc. will fall out of the bottom this way so you don''t need to take off the shoe.

I have owned these sandals for about six weeks. They are very comfortable around the house or garden. The closed toe is also good for kicking a soccer or Aussie rules football.I purchased the sandals for a canoeing trip in which their performance was excellent. When we went up rapids I was the only one who could drag the canoes. The rocks were slippery so the others were falling over and also banging their toes even though there were is similar shape to me.In contrast, the grip on these sandals was excellent and there was no problem with banging toes, so it was an easy walk for me.There is a lot of open space at the sides so my feet dried out quickly. No sign of the sandals going stinky yet.Want Keen Men''s Venice H2 Sandal,Black,15 M US Discount?
Most comfortable shoes or sandals I have ever owned.Have worn them seven months straight each summer for three years; year 4 underway -sand, major rocks, mega-sun, salt water, mud, trails -washer & dryer easy clean.
One of the strings just broke and I ordered a new one from Keen (no charge after owning them 3+ years!).Was installing the new string and noticed one of the "web" seams is starting to come apart on the upper right of the right shoe, but is still definitely strong enough to last this summer and probably next, before it''s time to buy a new pair.
BTW, I am 6ft 4in, 235 lbs, size 15 (normally wear a 14)
