These are the cheaper plastic version of the Birkenstock.They are waterproof and stiffer.I needed the stiffer support.If you want softer get the cork ones.This is my second pair and they are very durable, the last pair is still wearable and had lasted 5 years so far.Great for Plantar Faciitis, or other foot problems.They run LARGE.I ordered 2 european sizes small.Like one american size I think. perfect for harsh environments like salt, rough ground.
I really like these Birkis now that I am used to them. The strap across the toe is a lot higher than a traditional birk and at first I thought it looked goofy, they are also slightly wider. Even so, once I got used to the new look they''ve become one of my favorite shoe! Yes they are plastic and less padded. but still VERY comfortable. Deffinitally worth the cost.
