Allen Edmonds Men''s Catskill Slip-On

Allen Edmonds Men''s Catskill Slip-On, Black Suede/Brown Trim, 9.5 USA moccasin is a slipper made of deerskin or other soft leather, consisting of a sole and sides made of one piece of leather, stitched together at the top, and sometimes with a vamp (additional panel of leather). Though sometimes worn inside, it is chiefly intended for outdoor use, as in exploring wildernesses and running. The sole is soft and flexible and the upper part often is adorned with embroidery or beading, et cetera. Historically, it is the footwear of many Indigenous peoples of the Canada peoples; moreover, hunters, traders, and European settlers wore them. Etymologically, the moccasin derives from the Algonquian language Powhatan word makasin (cognate to Massachusett mohkisson / mokussin, Ojibwa makizin, Mi''kmaq mks''n), and from the Proto-Algonquian word *maxkeseni (shoe).

Who really needs a moccasin? You do if you don''t want to wear your gym shoes everywhere. Some of us only wear gym shoes to the gym. This is my "go to" shoe for casual clothes.Shorts, khakis, and dungarees. An excellent walking shoe with a rubber sole.I''ve always worn these without socks. From county fairs, to trekking across town on the bus, to grocery stores, fishing trips, and day camping.A rubber sole that''s less aggressive than a lug sole offers stable footing in most environments.

Special purpose footwear are like special purpose tools. You don''t pound rocks with a fuel line removal tool. You don''t wear your boxing shoes to go bowling. You don''t bowl with military issue boots. You don''t play basketball in ballet shoes. For those casual days when you''re not dressing up, or performing a "special purpose shoe" activity, this shoe fills the gap for daily wear. You''re not 15, slam dunking basketballs, or running from cops in ''da hood. You don''t need to wear Jordans everywhere you go.
