Mephisto Women''s Helen Plus Thong Sandal

I have owned a pair of these sandals for years and when they finally wear out, I order a new pair.But, this is the first time I have ordered the wider ones.The width is perfect but the strap is very tight and uncomfortable.I feel as if the makers used the same strap that they use on the regular sandals but since this footbed is wider, the strap gets pulled too tightly across the toe part.I just got them and going to try to get them to stretch out, but must admit I am a bit disappointed!135.00 is an expensive mistake.

I wear a 7 1/2 3A width shoe and have plantar faciitis, so needless to say I have a pretty tough time trying to find shoes that fit, let alone sandals. I can''t even fit into the birkenstock narrow line. These sandals are AMAZING if you have super narrow feet, like me. Remember these are Europeanso the sizes run small in width. The only criticism I can give them is that they do not come in half sizes. I wear the 37, which would be equivalent to a size 7, and it''s a few millimeters too small, but does the job better than any other sandal. I love the amazing arch support. If you have wide feet I would suggest you get Birkenstocks instead.

I agree with the reviewer "Susan" ... the straps on these sandals are not well proportioned. The width of the footbed would have suited me better than my regular Helens which I''ve nearly worn out, but the straps are too tight across the toes and they dug in painfully. I ended up giving them to my daughter-in-law whose foot is more slender than mine. She was pleased but I was not!

I have the exact same shoe in brown and I LOVE them.I''ve had the same pair for 2-3 years and they are still in good shape.I decided to order the same shoe in black, of course knowing already what size I need, but I am very disappointed!The straps are really tight!I read the other review about the wide having tight straps, but this is the medium/regular width!I have been wearing them around the house a lot to stretch them out and they are okay now, just okay, not perfect.When I put on my brown Mephistos I think "ahhhhh, so comfy!I wish the black ones felt this nice!!"Oh well.Everything else is great, good foot bed, etc.
