Carlos by Carlos Santana Women''s Acapulco

This shoe is gorgeous. The beading on top is so pretty. More conservative types might find the large "gems" to be too much, but for me, they''re perfect, since I love embelllishment. I got the nude color, which is very nice and right on trend. These can be dressed up or down and would look equally beautiful with a cocktail dress, or jeans and a top. I normally wear a size 9 and it barely fits right out of the box. It''s a tag snug in width, but I do have wide feet. It''s also just barely long enough, but I didn''t take away any stars bacause I know they will stretch as I wear them. They''re not too small, or I would have sent them back, but would have been nice if they were just slightly longer and wider. In any case, I recommend this shoe. I think I might get the black, too.

I''ve been hoping someone would buy me a pair of Carlos by Carlos Santana shoes for at least a year now. I find it fascinating that Carlos, who''s a great guitar player, has entered the fashion scene as a shoe designer. Since I play guitar, I thought these would be a really neat gift that appeals to my sense of style, gives a nod to my passion for music, and supports a charity.

I selected these for my wish list, in size 9 1/2, which is a size that''s very hard to come by. Most "bargain" shoes come in half sizes except between 9 and 10. How frustrating. It''s often the same story, 9 is too small for me and 10 is too big, which means no shoes for me. Then I find that quality lines actually make a true 9 1/2. These fit very well, a tad long and hint narrow, but I am sure they will stretch and fit me wonderfully.

The suede is soft and very black which sets off the beauty of the beadwork. I had really hoped the beads were a true red, as red and black are my favorite color combination, but the color is more of a fuchsia with a little pink sparkle. Those large fuchsia stones are in a field of light pink round stones, then clear, the far upper has a splash of lime green, and there''s some turquoise blue beads down toward the toe. To my surprise the center of the design features a round pattern of large orange seed beads. These looked more like iridescent red beading in the photos.

Comparing the shoes by holding them under good lighting, the images shown here are really close to real world as far as the colors. I suggest zooming in on a few different angles to really get an accurate reference for the beautiful colors. This can really connect the shoes to some bright spring and summer colors, making these more versatile that if they were just red/black.

I am very fair skinned so the colors really look amazing against my porcelain skin tone. Worn with a long crochet black skirt they look incredible. I think these are more of a style to pair with evening wear. They work with rich fabrics, and short or long hemlines.

Wedges or platforms can be more comfortable and stable than other heels, but these are kind of narrow in the heel. I will probably get used to these but at first I felt they were a tad unstable, especially if the flat sole lands on a round rock or pebble. I''ll just wear them while I am geting dressed for the evening so I''ll be used to them when I am out. Can''t wait to wear them dancing. I deducted a star as I feel these are narrow for the height, making it a little scary when walking outside;

They were really packed nicely, with forms to hold the shape, sole protectors, each shoe in a plastic bag, and a nice sturdy shoe box with some branded tissue paper.They arrived exactly on time, but weren''t eligible for Prime 2 day shipping. (They appeared via UPS the evening before my birthday, YAY!)
