Teva Women''s Mush Adapto Flip Flop

Teva Women''s Mush Adapto Flip Flop,Electric Blue/Multi,10 M US...so why''d they "fix" it??? I own over a dozen pairs of previous years'' Mushes in various colors and I can tell you that they were and still are the most comfortable, style-appropriate, durable, and awesome flip-flops ever.

I, like other reviewers here and numerous real-life friends, have been disappointed in Teva''s decision to change their previously-awesome Mush flip-flop in 2011.

I have been buying Mushes for a few years and have turned all of my friends on to them. I still have a few first? generation, with the firmer footbed, and different heel insignia. I have many of last-year''s model with a mushier footbed and newer heel insignia. I used to have one pair of this year''s Adapto model with the multi-strap, and a narrower footbed (but have since given them away because Teva has changed the shoe and the Mush, size 10 no longer fits me well).

Also, I have found that this Adapto (along with other manufacturers'' shoes bought this season) has a really far-back thong part, so my foot sits farther back than before and there is a lot of empty shoe where my toes used to rest. They now rest farther back which looks ridiculous. This also concerns me in that I am assuming a size larger will not allow me to bypass the narrower footbed and flatter instep, as this larger size may create an even larger space of unused toe real estate.

In addition, the strap on this shoe seems much tighter across the top of my foot than my previous Mush models, and is now uncomfortable. I thought I was going crazy until I started talking with others and reading these other reviews. Teva has made a mistake in the eyes of this previously extremely happy, product-praising, frequently purchasing customer.

If you have very narrow feet, with very long toes, and very flat in-step, or have found previous years'' Mushes to be too wide, then these may work for you. Otherwise, or if you are used to your old Mushes, these will probably disappoint (& depress) you. Look for old models, prior to the footbed change. The difference is glaringly obvious, IMHO. You can see it in Amazon''s images. Check out the image of the underside of this shoe and compare it to the Teva Mush original image (NOT the Teva Mush II, which suffered the same "narrowing" fate). You will see the old Teva Mush is more boxy and wide. The new Mush is more contoured and narrow.

These are definitely cute shoes, and they may be comfortable and durable flip-flops, and they still say Teva, but they should certainly not be called Mush.

I gave these (size 10) to my mom, who has a slim foot and wears a 9. They were slightly loose on her, but fit well enough.

UPDATE July 2011: After getting a tip from another reviewer, I called Teva about the new Mush style and was told that "a lot of people" had the same complaint and Spring 2012 will see the arrival of the "Original Mush". While I was on with them, I also requested new colors, including new sole colors. I have an old brown pair that are awesome and haven''t seen that since. So, if you have a wider foot, or just liked the old Mushes, be on the lookout in "March or April" 2012 for the return of the "Original Mush"!

UPDATE2 Sept 2011: I called Teva again today, and was told by a super-friendly operator, that the Original Mush will return in Nov 2011! That''s like 6-weeks away! Yay! I asked about new colors, etc. and she said new stuff usually comes out in the Spring, but to check the website, anyway. Woo-Hoo!

I rely on reviews here at Amazon to help me make informed buying choices. I hope this review has helped you in the same manner. If you voted this as helpful, I Thank You! :)

What a disappointment! These are not like Tevas I have had in the past. These are made of a cheaper material.I guess they have some different company making them now. They are very narrow and at least a half in shorter.I put the bottoms of my older Tevas up next to these new ones.I thought they sent the wrong size, no.Just a cheaper, shorter in length and width sandal. Not the quality you would expect from Teva.I had my first pair 15 years ago. What a disappointment!! Now I have to find a new company that makes decent filp flops! What a bummer!! Nice if you have narrow feet I guess and you have never had Tevas before. You might not know the difference.

This is a very pretty sandal and fits well. I liked the separate strings and its surprisingly soft, runs VERY small get a whole size bigger, Teva is NOT known for that, when I order directly from Teva I wear 7.5BUT ...every single time I have ordered from a different broker they are NEVER true to size, makes me think they are seconds, NOT FIRST QUALITY

I''ve been wearing teva flip-flops for years, and all of the sudden, this year I had to get one size larger (the same thing happened to two of my other friends, and as another reviewer pointed out, if you compare last year''s flip-flop to the same size of this year''s, this year''s is noticeably smaller). The flip-flops are still comfortable, but be aware that you need to go up one size.
