This buffalo calf roper is a work of craftmanship. The leather upper and vamp is as soft as butter like that of a fine Italian pair of shoes or gloves. The fit is excellent and sizing accurate. This model has the Lucchese roper 9 heel, which has a slight pitch to it, unlike a plain roper heel that has no pitch. I own another pair of Lucchese crocodile classics, two 2000''s smooth ostrich''s and one pair of 1883''s ostrich leg boots. There is simply no comparison between Lucchese classics, 1883 and 2000''s. These boots retail for $600.00 and the best price you can find is around $500.00. They are probably seconds, but I am a boot aficionado and the only issue I could find was one pull strap that was stitched slightly crooked. If you want the best roper money can buy get these boots. They are very comfortable and of the highest quality.

I bought a pair of these and couldn''t be happier. The craftsmanship is unmatched and they are true to size. These boots required minimal break-in and look fantastic. I wish they had a pair of chocolate ropers in my size so I could have a pair of Lucchese with all colors as I already own a pair of burnished cognac. Also the huge discount Amazon offered made this something I couldn''t pass up.

These boots are fine leather but the first day I wore the boots I noticed that the thin roping that lines the vertical seam in the side of one of the boots was severed in half and there was a large perforation in the side of the boot where the roping was severed. I am very disappointed because these boots were so expensive and I am hopeful that Amazon will promptly provide me a full refund or an exchange which I requested immediately when I discovered the defection. I am still a fan of the Lucchese products but disappointed that Amazon lacks quality control for such expensive items as these boots.
