The fit was strange: The middle strap was very tight on my foot, but the toe box seemed too big.I wear heels every day, but these were just too high for me.Even with the platform they are 4 inches.The Gold is a *very* bright yellow gold and looks a bit cheap.I returned them.

I searched for months for the perfect platform sandal in gold with a somewhat gladiator look, to wear with a tan colored convertible dress that has a roman style to it (bands of fabric that can wrap either over the shoulder or crisscross over the chest and around the neck, then back down around the waist and tie, etc). After looking at about 200 pairs of gold high heeled shoes, I found these (on another website), original price $215. Charles David offers high quality shoes, which is great, but I still didnt want to spend that much. Found on Amazon for $85 and I think they are worth it. Great workmanship, and the gold finish plus hardware and stitching and wood heel seems high-quality. The fabric looks like real leather (pebbled texture) and the gold finish does not look cheap. I wanted to avoid a cheap looking "party" shoe with a gold-tissue finish that wears right off after rubbing your feet around in them for a few days (or God forbid they get wet, some finishes peel/crack right off). I expect these to wear well over time. I wore them to a house party last night to see how they felt, and they were fairly comfortable. I got a lot of compliments from other women. Sizing was right on I am normally a 7.5, which I ordered, and they are not an inch too big or small. Straps over the bridge of the foot can leave an imprint in your skin by the end of the night, but I feel that was more due to average/natural swelling of feet by the end of the day than incorrect sizing or style. I am fairly petite with shorter legs, so I was looking for something that would not "cut off" my leg like so many cage style sandals can do, or rather any shoe with a strap around the ankle. The reason this worked for me is because the gold color isnt too far off from skin color, so kind of similar to wearing a nude shoe elongates the leg. I recommend these shoes, especially at this price. Original intent was specifically to wear with aforementioned dress to a wedding, but last night I wore with white skinny jeans and sheer colorful tunic gorgeous!
