Not my first or last pair of Birks, but these are probably the coolest. They do require a breaking in period because of the thick, firm leather...but they will last long too. I got the narrow 37 and i wear a size 7 to 7 &half in some shoes. Very happy. They are my "summer boots", mostly with dresses. The center strip can be removed for a banded look, if you tired of gladiator.

I wish these shoes came in half-sizes. I tried multiple sizes on these, and thought I finally found one that fit the way Birkenstock recommends, but it turns out I have to keep sliding my foot forward to keep the arch and the toes in the right spot, or I stand on the raised bits. Basically, there''s too much heal room, and tightening the ankle strap doesn''t seem to help to keep my foot in place. Wide sizes would also be better, since if I go any shorter, I''ll be standing on the edges.

Otherwise an excellent quality sandal, and they look fabulous.

I wanted to try a new style of birks, so I went for gladiator to pair w more skirts/dresses, etc. so good!!! Though, did take a week or so to break them in (ie weird rubbing on interior ankle at first). I stuck with them and they''re softer now and so solid.

Totally recommend this style!
