Reef Men''s Leather J-Bay Thong Sandal
I am now on my third pair of Reef''s J-Bay thongs. I wear them everyday, I think they are great. I have a couple of reservations however that I think you should know about. The footpad is made of some composite leather and tends to wear and crack at the heal. This area also tends to compress. There is a good arch support built in. This being said that my first pair was so admired they were stolen while in the hospital. I liked them so much I bought a second pair (to replace the stolen ones) to wear everyday around the house, lawn and the boat; a third pair for when I travel to town. Enjoy!
It was a very good sandal for sure, very well made and nice looking. But it does not last longer than the others, or maybe even deteriorates quicker because of the treated leather under your feet which loses its color and nice texture with your sweat faster than its plastic equivalent.
I had them for a year, wearing them once a week and I think that I will be able to keep them another year but probably not more.
Don''t put sand on them though, it rips off the leather when you walk with them.

I have also been wearing a variety of Reef sandals for years and years.Most notably the Fannings, of which I have owned ten pairs and find them to be the best rubber sandal on the market.For the last two years I was wearing a leather sandal called the Cobain Lonestar, and really really loved them.They were Super comfy and stylish, but were literally falling apart.After being in a leather sandal for 2 years,I had a hard time going back to a rubber one, unless I was going to the beach or lake.I found the J-Bay and tried them on at a store, but they were $75!!Amazon carried them for only $45, so I ordered a pair.I kid you not I ordered my pair on thursday afternoon with a 2 day shipping option,and they arrived Friday at noon.the next day!I couldnt believe it.Anyhow,the sandals are amazing.They are cut to hug your foot like the sole of a shoe, which means you don''t have to grip your toes when walking like you do in a ''floppier'' sandal.Also the bottom of the soles are rubber and leave you feeling very solid.The leather is all very nice, and after only 3 days of wearing them I am in Love with them.I can only imagine how well they will continue molding to my feet.
I wear a 12, and they feel true to size.If you have a super wide foot, this sandal may be a bit too snug for you, and they are pretty slim.

These flip flops are actually really nice looking and very comfortable.I sent them back once because they looked darker in the picture than they actually were.After I sent them back I regretted it and actually re-bought them the next day. They felt real nice on the feet with moderate arch support. I recommend that you buy one (1) size up from your shoe size because they do run small. The materials are premium and the price is amazing on amazon (you can''t find them for under $75.00 anywhere else). Overall I have always been satisfied with Reef sandals, however these do not seem to be as comfortable as others I have owned.I hate to say it, but if you are going to spend the money I would buy Rainbows.If the sandals get more comfortable over time I will revisit my review and let everyone know that sandals have improved.

These are supposedly medium width, and I do have narrow feet, but these are much wider than I expected.
It''s a good thing I drive a taxi so I won''t be standing or walking a lot in these shoes. I''ll just wear these in cold/wet weather and I''ll wear thick or doubled socks.

did not like these at all i found them to be very uncomfortable and cheap feeling.very narrow shoe regardless that i purchased them XW, there is to much front toe gap(due to it being being so narrow the point of the shoe sticks out further then your toes) and makes walking/bending feel clumsy.

Okay, so the cons: the stitching on the sole looks cheap and the bit that goes behind your heel feels a little like soft cardboard. Pros: once you put them on, they look surprisingly good and feel relatively durable. The leatherette and gold look great. Only time will tell, but so far I''m happy with the initial product. Oh, like most gladiator shoes (for me, at least) I could have done with a half size smaller. My feet look a little bit bigger in these shoes, but I don''t mind. They''re comfy.

I''ve always liked how Timberland boots feel. They are sturdy and soft at the same time. Ideal for any weather condition. I broke mine out to the blizzard in New York and it handled the snow and slush that followed after beautifully. I would recommend these to anybody looking for an all condition pair of shoes.Keep in mind nubuck can get scratches easily, but it is so beautiful to look at. The black leather is also a nice choice because it can look classy. I''ve tried wearing it with a dress shirt and it works well, especially when you need to walk in snow!

Put it on this afternoon and immediately felt the difference between a14 '' shoe that has been around a couple times(2-3yrs) to a 15'' wide. Laces do not look too strong though so i''ll buy some here. works out to be a lot more cheaper to bring it down than to buy this shoe at home. most likely i''m buying another come next payday

To start with these sandals look just like in the picture, this style is very smart & make your feet look handsome..they go well with jeans as well as casual linen trousers, the leather is good & the tan/brown combination goes well with most clothes. on the slightly down side: they are not as comfortable as they should have been (given the cost of the pair) they should hug your feet, which they don''t..However I still love them & would recommend them. go grab the pair..its a great spring/summer buy.

I was on the hunt for a nice pair of fisherman sandles for my husband for father''s day. I wanted to find something suitable. He needed something on the wider side or roomy side. He says he likes them, he has other pairs of Merrell''s. Everthing is OK except that the sandles do not have a very cushy sole. It''s more flat than cushy. However, the material inside is anti-microbial which eliminates the odor problem that can occur with real cushy, softer insoles.

I wore those sandals for three summers now almost every day. I am a shoe girl I sold shoes at Macy''s for 2 years and I have seen a lot of good sandals, but those really became my favorite. Those sandals are supposed to feet loose, so I would suggest to get a size that you normally wear in Merrels and not go down. They are comfortable when they are loose, but if you get a smaller size they might rub on your feet. They do pick up some dirt (because of their loose fit) when you are out in the wild. I just try to wash them time after time with a wet cloth and wash my feet when I come back from such walks. But the great part about them is that they look nice and feminine with either shorts/pants or dress/skirt. They kind of have a look of original "ancient greek sandals" and together with that they give a comfort of a Merrel shoe in which you can walk for miles and not get tired. My pair is black, so it goes with everything. Mine never broke, bit I have to say I do not mess up with the buckle since I bought them. I adjusted the buckle once and since that I just slip them on and off, which I would recommend to everybody. The sole held up pretty well too. The front of it is now after three seasons of wear finally getting pretty thin, so it is probably a time to get a new pair... I walked in those sandals for miles and miles as I do a lot of walking, hiking and traveling. This style is a real steal!!!Last summer I bought a pair of these in black. The comfort was pure bliss and I received many compliments on the style. I''m tempted to buy another pair, but these sandals just did not hold up, especially disappointing given the relatively high price. Within a few weeks the elastic connection on one shoe''s side strap broke and had to be stitched. A few weeks later the same thing happened to the other shoe. The shoe repair shop where I bought them was pessimistic about the repair lasting, calling it a "design flaw," and tried to charge $8 to fix them until I pointed out I had bought the sandals from the very same shop less than six weeks earlier. Now the leather has stretched out so much these sandals are way too loose to wear safely for a second summer.I''m disappointed with the construction of this style, but plan on checking out the newer styles, hoping these construction weaknesses have since been corrected.

I love the comfort and style of this shoe.However, after wearing them for the 2nd full day, the strap by the left instep became detached. I was able to repair it myself with a sewing machine, but still...Regarding sizing, you may want to consider ordering a half to one full size smaller than you normally wear.The size that fit me best was half a size smaller than my normal size, and was still slightly too large (but a better fit than going down a full size).
My only other concern is about the covering on the top of the bottom (the part that makes contact with the bottom of your feet).Comfy, but also picks up dirt very easily.Make sure your feet are clean all the time, or you''ll end up with black marks in the shape of your feet.So, would be a good sandal to wear shopping, going out to dinner, etc.But not for wearing around the garden, park, etc., where you might pick up some dirt or sand.
On the plus side, they are very comfortable, and much more stylish and feminine than other "sportier" types of sandals.Given the fact that they pick up dirt so easily, and that I had some problems with durability, I wouldn''t call them sports sandals, though.I don''t think Merrell classifies them as such, either, but I had in mind that they''d be heartier than average, coming from Merrell.

I bought a pair of these sandals in black to wear on a summer trip to Italy in 2008.I wore them constantly with casual skirts and dresses while I walked the streets, toured the ruins, and dined in outdoor cafés.I like the sporty comfort; the style will work well for women who want a lightweight, slim-packing sandal for comfortable walking that will straddle the middle ground between an every day casual sandal and one that can pair with slightly more dressy outfits.These are best for urban, suburban wear and park strolling and wouldn''t be the right choice for intense off-pavement hiking or sports or with really dressy outfits.Our trip is long since over, but I continue to wear these sandals frequently with jeans, capris/cropped pants, casual skirts, and casual summer dresses.I noted other some other reviewers having problems with the strap.I haven''t had that problem.I fitted the strap once when I purchased them and never adjusted it.I slip the heel strap up over my heel with a hooked finger.I wear these sandals slightly looser than usual so that during hot weather they don''t chafe if my feet swell.If I have an emollient cream on my feet, I have had a tiny bit of black dye stain the side of my big toe (but never if I haven''t applied moisturizing cream to my feet).When the sandals have become dusty while wearing, I wiped them with a damp cloth and they looked great again.
In fact, I like these sandals so much I am planning to purchase another pair in brown.

VERY comfortable.I have been wearing Merrell shoes for 8 years, and nothing is better for casual comfort and durability.I have 2 colors of Agave and use them in summer as my walking shoes, marathon shopping shoes, and great for airport too. I would be happy to wear them every day, and probably could.They resist stain, odor, and even fire. True story=I was wearing these while grilling and a hot spark flew out from the coals and landed on my foot.The ember went between and then under my toesouch! The shoes showed no burn marks even though my toe got 2nd degree burns.So, I recommend these shoes for almost everything (just wear closed toe for grilling!)
