These are really comfortable orthopedic shoes but if your arch is really high like mine, you''ll always have to push your foot forward so your heel won''t protrude over the back edge of the sole. Maybe the design should give more elasticity to the top strap. The footbed is cushioned really well, soft but supportive. They''re relatively wide, but don''t look too bulky on your foot. There are three issues though: the black dye from the leather comes off onto your skin, not in huge amounts but it sticks especially to your little toe nail (not good at all!) even after prolonged wear; the second issue concerns the wonderful buttery soft leather that feels so wonderful on your skin and won''t cause chafing--it also covers the thickness of the sole and whenever you hit a rock or touch something, that leather gets shredded! So my sandals looked heavily worn after the first month! And there is no way to repair this. Plus the rubber sole is pretty thin so shredded leather pieces hang off the front and back end of the sandal. I was disappointed and puzzled by this design choice, but the construction of the shoe does a world of good to your feet. The third issue is that the thread in the stitching has started to come loose after about two weeks with normal wear (not good). The bottom line is that these sandals cradle my tired feet and I look forward to wearing them, but they look really worn and at the end of their life span and are only maybe 5 months old.
