I have arthritic feet and my feet hurt so much that no one can go near them. I''ve spent a small fortune buying shoes that felt comfortable enough to wear only to I find that I could not wear them for any length of time. If I have to be up I have to change shoes 4 or more times a day. I need good arch support and I have plantar fasciitis as well as morton''s toe which give me numbness, pain and electrical tingles (not pleasant) if the shoes are lacking in proper padding for the ball of the foot. With those issues combined with arthritis in my feet and toes, I simply find it too painful to walk or stand for any period of time.
I recently spent weeks on a sensitive foot site that sells footwear, and all manner of applicable paraphernalia, trying to research what I could try next ... slowly but surely I migrated off that site to the Ecco''s because of reviewers comments on the wave foot bed.I initially bought a pair of Rainier''s (in night shade, a great colour) and when they arrived I was concerned about those ''waves''.
Well, it was "OMG, these are amazing!" after about 15 minutes, because it is usually at 10 minutes that the new shoe love affair ends and the feet complain for some reason or other. My feet LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ecco wave footbed more than any shoe I have ever worn and I am not just being overly effusive when I say they are changing my life... I can walk without pain now -which means I can actually go for walks.Walks were short and slow at first but everyday I am able to go a little longer and feel a lot less tired because I am not used to the exertion.My dogs have a routine with my husband and I am a distraction on the walks. LOL! I hope to join them often so they become used to me. And it all came about because of shoes.
My plantar fasciitis has disappeared, my arches get a soothing and supportive stretch and my long skinny toes (with a morten''s toe) get incredible support. I will say the same thing others have written:it really does feel like the shoe was made for me.These ARE different.
It seems incredible to me still, after trying so long with so many doctors and physiotherapists, spending so much money on stuff that is supposed to help my quality of life and still missing out, that something as simple as a particular design of shoe bed can make a difference.
After a couple of days, I realized I needed more than one pair because I didn''t want to take them off and am wearing them like slippers too (wiping them down from outside first of course ;o).When I went to order another pair of Rainier''s I found that my size (37) was sold out everywhere (that ships to Canada) but I learned of a few other models that also use the wave foot bed.Now I am excitedly waiting for a pair of Coba''s to wear as slippers in the house, a pair of Off-Road Lights (the same as Rainiers but Black) and Yucatan IIs (the wave foot bed make them a totally different shoe than the regular Yucatans)... I''m still on the hunt for the Mojave''s in my size -I want one of EVERY one style that has the wave foot bed because I NEVER want to be without! I have my fingers crossed that these all are going to be as awesome as the Rainier''s.
I was a bit apprehensive purchasing these sandals on line, but as they are very adjustable, as long as the foot length is correct they will fit perfectly. The sensation is of walking on little clouds of air, so comfortable and light.

I have plantar fasciaitis (excuse the spelling) and have to wear athletic shoes until it heals up.I was dreading having to wear tennis shoes all summer, so decided to try these sandals.I would never pay full price for them, but was able to get them on here for about $87.They are super-comfortable!Provide great support, even better than most athletic shoes.

I misplaced my cheaper rubber-sole-and-nylon-strap Tevas before our honeymoon, so we ended up buying a pair of these ECCOs at a mall in Honolulu.I had a hard time paying over $100 for sandals, but they have turned out worth the money.I wear a women''s size 8 in running shoes (Aasics, Saucony), and the size 37 Ecco fit me best.I bought the night shade/moon rock color.I''ve experienced several negatives, but I still love wearing them every day, so I still give them 5 stars.
Pros:
-Long-lasting.I wear these for work as a nanny and these sandals have survived two springs, summers, and falls of countless long walks with almost no wear to the tread.The velcro is still in great condition.
-Good grip.The tread is similar to a hiking boot pattern--providing good grip for climbing on rocks and uneven terrain.
-Supportive.My hips and knees ache in typical sandals (even at my age--26), but these are as supportive as a good running shoe--no aches!Perhaps due to their thick sole.
-Form-fitting.The toe rounds up like a running shoe rather than a cheaper sandal, for more natural walking.The sole and straps are not bulky.
-Padded, breathable straps.
-Fabric-like covering on the foot bed.They are more breathable and comfortable than simple rubber foot beds.
-Washable.I was hesitant at first, and remain hesitant to do this often, but I washed them in my front-loader with some rags and let them air-dry.Made them look brand new.
Cons:
-Adjustable straps: They are just barely tight enough in their tightest fitting.I wish I could tighten them more, especially for hiking and light climbing.I have pretty lean feet, but I still think they should''ve made them more adjustable.I also developed blisters early on from some of the thread on the straps.Socks, then Bodyglide prevented further blistering as my feet adjusted.
-The foot bed waves: I found these quite painful on the soles of my feet.My feet have gotten used to them, but I still feel discomfort from time to time.But, I''d rather have my feet ache than my hips or knees.It seems other reviewers enjoy these waves.
-Slow to dry: They take over 8 hours to dry if they become wet.I use my cheap Tevas at the beach for that reason.
-Heavy: I coudn''t justify the weight for bringing these as extra footwear on our 4-day Continental Divide Trail backpacking trip.
-Smell: My feet and shoes don''t normally acquire an order.My shoes usually smell new or neutral.But these shoes seem to gain a stench that I occasionally sequester with a good scrubbing or machine washing.Perhaps I get the material wet too often (about once a week, in the rain, at the beach, etc.).

These are really great sandals for older folks who have had arch problems. I have several pairs and wear them all summer long. They last a long time and are rugged.
I love these boots! I personally got the arctic plaid ones and I am a size 8 1/2 and I got a size 9 and they fit wonderfully! They are so furry and warm and they don''t make my feet look like I have penguin feet which is good!! The shape of the shoe is as skinny as tennis shoes just warmer and fuzzier! I absolutely love these and this was the place that I found them cheapest! So I would definately recommend these shoes to anyone;)
