Unlike the other reviewer, I was able to try on a pair of these shoes at a local store many years ago and did not have problem with sizing. I purchased my first pair of Helen Mephistos in town and when the time came to replace the first pair, I found the replacements on Amazon.My second pair are the black patent and they look pretty sharp...casual, but sharp.With a good manicure, they are ok for business casual dress code.Of note is that my first pair were brown and it seems that the brown colored footbed would stain the soles of my feet if I wore them all day.This doesn''t happen with the black patent sandals which have a lighter gray colored footbed.

I have been wearing mephisto Helen for a few years now. I own many colors. It''s my absolute favorite, go to sandal.I have bunions and sensitive kneees and back. The support & comfort is incredible. This style hides my bunion but doesnt hurt it. The flesh tone minmizes imperfections even more. & I think it''s a great look since I wear a lot of bohemian and yogic clothing.
If you need the thong portion softer, just rub very vigorously between fingers, rough it up and it will soften, otherwise, it will soften over time.
This shoe will last a long, long time.
My first pair was white and I purchased about 3 years ago. I still wear them. However, being in Fl., I exposed them to moisture, and the cork has begun to rot or fall out just a little. So now I treat cork with a natural cork treatment or a moisture block spray. Other than untreated cork in sole , I think these shoes would last a life time.

These sandals are comfortable right from the box.I wore them all day without any trouble.I have plantar fascitis and a heel that sinks slightly on the outside edge of one foot which can cause knee pain.My feet never hurt and my heel and arch felt stable all day long!I usually wear a 6.5 (37) but went down to a size 6 (36).The 37 seemed a bit too long but I have short stubby toes.You can''t go wrong with these sandals!

I was looking for a bootie to replace my Naturalizers that simply wore out after many years.I was very disappointed in the look of the shoe.It looked like the shoe was made out of vinyl or plastic, instead of a smooth leather and was very stiff and uncomfortable.Promptly sent mine back and will never order another Ros Hommerson shoe. The shipping was good, however they didn''t include a return label so I had to pay the shipping to send them back.I purchased from the ShoeMall on Amazon.This boot is sturdy and looks good, but I was disappointed by the lack of support. It has some support but for a person who needs a little more arch support (like me), I would have to buy inserts. Unless you wear orthotics, this would not be a good choice for someone with problem feet. It''s a great looking boot, I have to use a long handled shoe horn to get them on which I really don''t mind.

My first pair of Chaco''s sandals was this style in the "Razz" color--which is the muted red print on the dark brown footbed.OH..MY..Plantar Fasciitis Relief!
I found these so comfy, so soothing to my troubled feet, that I ordered them in another sandal style (no toe wrap, black) and fell in love with those even more.This style, while nice and comfy, can be troublesome around the toe for some (and even me some days if I don''t adjust the straps just so).
These do keep your foot in place better than the other non-toe wrap style, but the others give the foot more flexibility. So, this style gets one star removed for that particular issue--the toe thing. Some people prefer the stability of the toe-wrap. I prefer the freedom and ability to "shrug" my toes in the other styles.
I now have five pairs of these pricey sandals (OMIGOSH, how much I spent!) because they make my feet happy. These may not be sexy, but they are well-constructed, will last ages, can be cleaned after every use with a cleanser and sponge or an antibacterial gel (I sometimes use that with a sponge or cloth) and a shot of Lysol. (Yeah, I like my sandals CLEAN.) And it doesn''t affect it. They keep right on striding.
Walk in a soggy garden, through the rain, in the dirt. No matter. These clean up and keep going.
With casual wear, these are my number one footwear now. Cool. Anti-fungal (for those with these issues, these let your feet BREATHE). Esy to care for. Fun in a kicky casual groove with jeans and leggings (bootcut, especially).
And the company tries to be socially and eco-responsible. That''s a plus.
If you have plantar fasciitis, give these a try. These are the ONLY shoes I don''t immediately kick off when I get home. :)

NOTE: These run a bit large. I have them in both my normal size (10) and in one smaller(9), and I find I prefer the smaller size. It''s up to how much "bumper room" you like for your feet. Strongly recommend you consider downsizing a size, and if you''re between sizes (ie, you''re 8.5), definitely size down to an 8, rather than up to a 9.
I LOVE these sandals for a variety of reasons.
1. Excellent Arch Support. I have crazy high arches and these shoes give great support.
2. Keeps my feet aligned. Between the heel strap, deep heel cup, and toe loop, my feet stay aligned and saves my back and knees from undo wear and tear.
3. They fit my Fred Flinstone feet. I was nervous about purchasing a pair of chaco''s with a toe loop because I have wide feet. Because the straps are adjustable I have had no problems fitting my feet.
A word to the wise It does take some time and effort to adjust the straps to the perfect fit. These shoes mold to your feet so be patient in finding the perfect fit. It usually takes me about 2 months to fully break in a pair of chacos and find the "sweet spot" for the adjustable straps.

Living in the midwest I could not find the kind of trekking sandal I was looking for. When my cousin from CO visited the first thing I noticed was her sandals. "What kind are they and where can I get a pair?" I love them because the straps are adjustable for a custom fit. They have great arch support. I never wore sandals with a toe strap before but do like this one because I realize what it does is stablize my foot. I don''t mind paying the money when I get my money''s worth. I love the cut out style of the shoe, although I was dissapointed in the tone of brown not very muted more bright (bought from endless so different colour picture) however they are very confortable for high heels and I will be buying a pair in Black.I found they actually size one size smaller than normal pleaser shoes, i got size 6 instead of size 5 (to allow for my feet swelling throughout the day) and although the other pair of size 6 i bought in pleaser normal brand fitted perfect, the day and nights seemed more like a 5 than a 6.
I also bought pleaser halters (memory foam insert) and the grips for the bottoms highly reccomend as the inserts are the most comfortable I have ever used and the grips stick well if applied properly and give you more friction to the ground (no more slipping on wet floors!)

I purchased these sandals to wear at my wedding reception. They are fun and cute and will be extremely comfortable. The only thing i did not like was the layers that had darker colors in them I would have stuck with all white and silver material. But they will be under my dress and the price was right.

Steve Madden Wesscot...how I love these. I actually got these at Ross for $30. That''s right...$30 for designer brand, authentic leather shoes. These shoes are so comfy and so cute on the feet. They have a nice fit, not too small. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, these are a bit narrow in the toe and a bit wide in the ankle. But the wide ankle should not bother you because the rest of the shoe fits perfectly. You would NOT want your ankle to be bound tightly as you walk anyway, as the zipper on the back of the shoe would tear up the skin on the back of the ankle. Also, your gait would be rather stiff if your ankles couldn''t move.Besides, this is a wedge bootie with a fairly low vamp so if a bound ankle is what you need to be able to walk or function in these, these really are not the shoe for you. And I''m saying that these shoes are very, very, easy to walk and function in. I wear these to the mall, I drive in them, so on and so on.
The only issue that I personally have with these shoes is that the bottom of the shoe (similar to all Steve Madden shoes) is pretty slippery! But I just slap on some anti-slip tape on the sole and it''s fixed.
All in all, I''m glad I have Steve Madden''s Wesscots. They are neutral, perfect for elongating your legs, easy to walk in, easy on the foot, and authentic leather. What a woman wants in a shoe!

I bought taupe and black. Both are exactly true to size (TTS). No problems with tightness or not fitting anywhere. I wear 7.5 and they fit perfectly. All leather/suede,except sole...a must for me. The zipper back makes these very stable and the most comfortable platforms I have ever worn for any length of time. So far up to 8 hours standing and I usually wear Uggs. Once they are on my feet, I don''t give them a second thought that I might: a. fall down b. shoe will fall off c.shoes too heavy (like Jeffrey Campbell''s mules) or think (hope)nothing will happen with each step. When I wear black cotton crew socks(!) with the black pair it looks like they don''t have a peep toe. Shoes can be worn with or without socks. Personally, I feel more comfortable with socks on, even though barefeet against leather feels good. Just a personal thing. Great, functional, classic product. We have pricey items but I always come back to these, esp. for sneakers and boots. They are uniquely able to absorb moisture and go well with baby powder, if you like. Gels cannot do that, though gels are great in their place. Love ''em and always will! Only complaint: We still have to cut your insoles with manual scissors, Dr. Scholl''s Air Insoles? Wow, a true time-waster. Why not perforate the soles to make it much simpler? That is the reason for 4 stars. GO SOLID, CLASSIC DR. SCHOLL''S!

This is a great shoe for the price and will be perfect for what I need it for. I haven''t been this satisfied with a shoe purchase under $40 in a very long time. I ordered this shoe in beige and was pleased with both the sizing and fit. The design is balanced and offers great stability for a heel of this height as well as provides a nice cushion for comfort. I would note that the line accent is closer to a muted gold than a silver, but the coloring compliments the beige perfectly.The seller shipped this item promptly and I had no issues I would definitely buy from them again. Something I''ve noticed in the past about buying shoes online is that there can be a strong odor (leather/plastic/rubber variety) that accompanies the shoes and/or box. These are the most comfortable yet somewhat stylish shoes that I have ever owned. I bought these in a size 9.5 in a wide width and I wear them with size 10 Lynco Aetrex 400 orthotics (I removed the supportive insole insert that came with these shoes) and they fit perfectly and are supremely comfortable, supportive and not "glommy". They look more "urban" than orthotic and they look fine with skinny jeans sort of "urban chic" really!!! Basically they say "I need to be on my feet, so I need to be comfortable, but I don''t want to wear blocks on my feet". I highly recommend them. I paid $60 for them on sale at my local high end shoe store. The photo does not do them justice the laces are fairly thin.I am referring to the black leather style. So comfy!I just want to add that I tried these with the included removable footbed/inner sole and they were not as comfortable or supportive as when I removed the inner sole and used the Lynco Aetrex orthotic sole.I have removed a star, but for those of you who are looking for a shoe to go with your Lynco Aetrex orthotics, this show would be a great choice.
This combination could be a near perfect solution for people with foot and ankle pain.
